Anait, Abramian

Born in Erevan, Armenia, in 1950.

“Life changes every minute, creating multiple situations where the past, the present and the future are independant and where the present always determines the past and the future. These are the imperceptible limits of the metamorphosis that I am trying to express in my works.

In Greek antiquity, it was said commonly: “Know yourself and you will know the entire world”. Through knowledge of oneself, I try to penetrate the enigma of life’s mysteries by visualising them. I endeavour to find the sources of primary causes which are hidden in our spirit. Contrary to secret, mystery is always open; and it is this open mystery that represents the object of my art.

I work with different engraving techniques, etching, aquatint, monotype and with mixed
techniques where colour serves as a leading strand for emotion.”
